Dinner and Drinks in the vineyards of Vienna
The venue
Our social event will take place in the evening of Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Weinhof Zimmermann a family-owned so-called "Heuriger". A "Heuriger" is an Austrian tavern that offers local foods and home-made wine, a very authentic Viennese experience! The venue is located on a hill, between vineyards, in a valley in the north-western part of Vienna, with a great view on the Vienna woods (a hilly region that transitions into the Alps) and the valley leading into the city centre.
There will be a large buffet with cold and warm authentic regional Austrian dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options, and a wide selection of local wines and other, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Food and drinks are a complimentary part of the social event.
Getting there and back
Rented Bus We rented a bus to bring us to the venue, and back. The bus will leave the summer school venue at 18:15 (6.15pm), arriving at around 19:00 (7pm) at Weinhof Zimmermann. The bus will then return back to the summer school venue, leaving at 22:00 (10pm) from Weinhof Zimmermann.
Public transport For those who want to stay longer or leave earlier, there are also regular connections via public transport back into the city centre. More specifically, the bus stop "Neustift Agnesgasse" of bus 35A is a 5 minutes walk from the Heuriger, and the bus leaves every 15 minutes (10, 25, 40, 55 minutes past the hour). The bus connects to the subway U6 at stop "Spittelau". To get back to the summer school venue, take the U6 from "Spittelau" to "Thaliastrasse", then it is 8 minute walk via Neustiftgasse. The overall travel time is 45 minutes. Note that Vienna is a very safe city, also at night. The last bus leaves "Neustift Agnesgasse" at 23:55, after which there are also night buses. The Heuriger closes at midnight.
